About Us

The Madeley & District Male Voice Choir was formed over thirty years ago. The name was changed to the Telfordaires when the chorus joined the British Association of Barbershop Singers, (BABS). Now well known throughout the region for their dynamic performances, the chorus also has a reputation for entertainment amongst other barbershop choruses. We focus on the singing of four part harmony in the barbershop style, straight from the heart.

For several years now we have maintained a position amongst the top ten barbershop choruses in the UK. In the highly competitive environment of the annual convention, we are currently ranked seventh out of the sixty or so choruses in the country. Now the premier chorus in the region we boast a singing membership of over fifty men aged from 14 to late 70's from all backgrounds. We are very fortunate to have the benefit of a number of highly qualified and committed gold medal winning coaches who support us in developing and improving our vocal and performance skills. We are keen to welcome potential members.
